Shark Point – Hin Mu Sang

0ne of the most popular local dive site, Phuket Shark Point, made up of three large rock pinnacles that explode with life. The feature of it is the abundance of the pink and purple soft corals that stick to the rocks and its huge barrel sponges. The diversity and the sheer density of coral and fish life make diving moment a breathtaking sensual experience.

The dive site is also known as “Hin Mu Sang” name from the leopard ( zebra) shark (stegastoma valium), a tame creature that hangs out in the sand nearby the pinnacle, making it one of the famous spot for scuba diving in Phuket. Sharks are often found either resting on the sandy part or freely swimming around the surrounding waters. Hard corals and Indo Pacific tropical fish and a hundreds of different species, sweep over the pinnacles provide plenty food. Each square corner centimeter is covered by something living filled with fish.

You can also find bamboo sharks hiding under coral ledges, over the reef you can see scorpion fish and lion fish and many different variety of pufferfish including the cute tiny yellow boxfish. On every dive, you can also spot Moorish idols and similar looking banner fish, also emperor angelfish and blue ringed angelfish are common. You can dive here any time of the month and your best chance to get up close to these beautiful approachable sharks.
